Cedarscreen Cedar Cladding Systems
Cedar weatherboards for exterior cladding
From New Zealand’s early pioneering days, stylish no-nonsense timber weatherboards have been inextricably linked to the concept of good building and great architecture.
Today’s technically advanced building cladding systems and enhanced profiling and machining methods mean that cedar weatherboards can be manipulated to exploit the full range of exterior cladding possibilities that cedar timber provides.
Using a palette that spans the cool clean lines of narrow profiled cedar weatherboards with crisply profiled joints, through to rugged and craggy random depth and width vertical or horizontal exterior cladding, designers and architects can evoke the spirit of New Zealand's richly textured and varied landscape.
A range of proven weatherboard coating options and choice in timber cladding texture create myriad opportunities for designers to create unique solutions for the wide range of environmental conditions encountered by New Zealand’s buildings.
Rosenfeld Kidson’s cedar timber weatherboards are a superior cladding material for residential housing offering weather tightness, natural beauty and durability. Cedar timber is also a popular exterior cladding for architecturally designed commercial buildings, as it offers unique texture and design appeal to facades and is equally as popular used in interior applications.
Our cedar weatherboards are manufactured from premium quality western red cedar. Its natural colour varies from dark brown to pink. If left to weather, on exposure the cedar wood turns to a reddish-brown and eventually to a weathered silver-grey. Rosenfeld Kidson recommends pre-coating cedar in wood oil. This product offers much improved performance and a range of natural colour tones, varying from silver and pale greys, to natural browns and reds, to dark browns and blacks.
Western red cedar wood has a very low shrinkage factor and therefore is very stable, naturally durable, machines exceptionally well and accepts stains and oils readily.
Western red cedar has a proven track record amongst specifiers, New Zealand building authorities and building owners for its durability, beauty and performance that ensures both functional excellence and quality aesthetics.
The forests of British Columbia, from where cedar is sourced, are all well-managed and certified as such, with cedar suppliers carrying certification under either SFI, CSA, FSC or PEFC. We look forward to discussing your exterior cedar cladding requirements with you. Contact Cedarscreen.
